Kangaroo Island is a 30 minute flight from Adelaide or 45 minute ferry crossing to the island. This island is Australia’s third largest. Most of the island is classified as a national and conservation park. The spectacular coastline of Kangaroo Island has towering cliffs, sandy beaches, old battered rocks and quiet inlets. Fishing opportunities abound on Kangaroo Island. Kingscote is the largest town located on Nepean Bay.
Spend the early part of the day at the Seal Bay Conservation Park. This park is a large sandy beach and dune area. Watch the Australian sea lions rest on large rocks. Late morning should be spent swimming and exploring secluded rock pools, walk along the shore and hike along mountain trails. Enjoy the water during the early afternoon. Sail, snorkel or charter a fishing boat as the afternoon breezes by. Exploring Kangaroo Island is a nature lovers dream come true.
Watch pelicans feed in the afternoon and then stay on the beach and watch the fairy penguins come ashore.
Little Sahara is an area of beautiful white sand dunes. Make sure you take a bottle of water as you explore and hike the many dunes.
After leaving Little Sahara, return to South Coast Road towards Kingscote and Seagers Road. At the end of Seagers Road, you will find Murray Lagoon. Enjoy a break at the Lagoon park area. Late afternoon drive along the north coast of Kangaroo Island and enjoy the farmland, national parks, rocky cliffs and unspoiled beaches.
Take a walk or swim at Emu Bay. a short 20 minute drive from Kingscote which is the main town on Kangaroo Island.
